A medical negligence expert witness is a qualified clinician instructed to provide an independent, objective opinion on the standard of care provided by a healthcare professional. Their report assists the court in understanding complex medical issues and must comply with CPR Part 35 and the accompanying Practice Direction.
Professor Hindocha applies the Bolam/Bolitho standard — assessing whether the treating clinician’s actions would be supported by a responsible body of medical opinion in the relevant specialty. His opinions are evidence-based, referenced to current clinical guidelines, and clearly reasoned for the court.
Standard turnaround is 6–8 weeks from receipt of complete papers and (where required) medical examination. Expedited reports can be accommodated in complex or urgent matters. Please discuss your timeline requirements when submitting your instruction.
Yes. Harley Street Legal accepts instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors, as well as from court-appointed single joint experts. Professor Hindocha’s duty as an expert witness is to the court, not to the instructing party, in accordance with CPR Part 35.3.
A negligence report addresses breach of duty and causation — whether the standard of care was met and whether any breach caused harm. A condition and prognosis report focuses on the claimant’s current injuries, their permanence, and future treatment needs. Both may be required in the same case and can be combined into a single document where appropriate.
