For most scarring claims, physical examination is strongly advisable. Photographic evidence alone rarely captures texture, elevation, and functional impact to the standard a court requires. Appointments at Harley Street Legal’s consulting rooms are typically available within 5–7 working days. For desktop-only instructions, we will advise clearly on the limitations of the opinion at the point of instruction.
Scars continue maturing for up to 18–24 months following injury. Where possible, Harley Street Legal recommends instructing after the scar has reached maturity — typically 12–18 months post-injury. If court deadlines require an earlier assessment, we will give a clear current-state opinion and a prognosis for how the scar is likely to evolve, supporting both interim and final settlements.
Yes. Every scarring assessment includes an itemised schedule of future treatment, covering the number of procedures, realistic intervals, expected outcomes, and current Harley Street private market costs. This schedule is regularly used by quantum teams and barristers when calculating the special damages element of a claim.
As a minimum: complete GP and hospital records from the point of injury, operative notes from any surgical treatment, and clinical photographs if available. A brief summary of the incident is also helpful. Where psychological sequelae are alleged, any GP entries, referral letters, or existing psychological assessments should be included.
